Biography
Josh Hackney is an undergraduate student at the University of Memphis majoring in Psychology with a concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience and minors in Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Political Science. A U.S. Navy veteran, Josh previously served as a Fire Controlman and technical instructor for the D.O.W, where he trained both domestic and international military personnel and supported the development of advanced weapons systems.
His research interests include suicide prevention and postvention, clinical intervention science, digital mental health technologies, and the development of innovative, personalized approaches to behavioral healthcare. Following graduation, Josh plans to pursue doctoral training in clinical psychology, where he hopes to study suicide prevention, treatment personalization, and the use of emerging technologies to improve mental health outcomes on a broader scale. Outside of his academic and research pursuits, Josh enjoys hiking with his dog, volunteering at the local VA hospital, reading about consciousness and cognitive neuroscience, and practicing regenerative agriculture on his family's farm.
